With trumpets blaring and drums booming, Northwood High Schools marching band energized the crowd as the Irvine Unified School District Board of Education, local dignitaries and members of the public gathered for a ceremonial groundbreaking for Portola High School Irvines highly anticipated fifth high school. More than 200 people witnessed the milestone that took place on what will be home base of the high schools future baseball diamond.

Many families spent their first weekend of fall touring the remaining new home collections at Pavilion Park and playing games on the iconic great lawn at the Find Your Happiness Home Tour. It was a celebration of Pavilion Parks strong success since the grand opening of the first Great Park Neighborhood one year ago. The weekend included live music from folk and jazz bands, a balloon artist and Great Park Neighborhoods signature orange Front Porch Popsicles for guests to enjoy.

Pavilion Park residents spent the summer learning how to cook up some delicious culinary creations at our monthly outdoor Cooking Demos. From May through September, they discovered the secrets to preparing delicious dishes by watching cooking demonstrations led by Chef Patty and Pavilion Park team member Laura. Outdoor Cooking Demos took participants on culinary explorations through Spain, Greece, India and the United States right from the outdoor kitchen on Pavilion Parks Visitor Terrace. But it is time to say goodbye, adios and athio to our outdoor Cooking Demos for this year. And as Julia Child once said, ...no one is born a great cook, one learns by doing.
